Frequently Asked Questions
Dashboards and reports will be available in June after the data collection period and analysis has been completed. Check back here for FAQs when dashboards and reports become available.
Why did NACAS choose a third-party provider for benchmarking?
NACAS is committed to maintaining confidentiality, data privacy, and security. We chose Vault Consulting to provide support and expertise in the areas of survey methodology, dashboarding, and user experience. Individual, campus-identifying data will never be shared or sold to any other party, including NACAS staff.
Confidentiality: Vault Consulting will be conducting this survey and compiling results for NACAS, ensuring the confidentiality of individual institution data. Vault will publish only aggregated data with a sufficient number of responses to prevent any institution’s data from being exposed and will not share, query or publish any individual survey data with any other entity, including NACAS staff.
I’m not sure I understand the value of benchmarking on campus or how to utilize the data on my own campus. Where can I find more information around that?
We will have recorded and upcoming webinars that focus on both of these questions. You can contact email@example.com if you want to learn more about the NACAS Benchmarking program.
How do I update my membership roster with NACAS?
The primary contact of each institution can update rosters directly online by logging into their NACAS profile and navigating to the ‘Roster’ section of the left navigation menu. Edit privileges can be granted to others on the member roster by endorsing the checkbox for ‘Edit Roster Permission’ in the Roster editing tool. New contacts can be added to a member roster by any active member by using the +Add Contact button in the top navigation menu above the user profile. Any member can also contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (434) 245-8425 to make adjustments.
I don’t understand some aspects of the process, survey metrics or definitions AND/OR I’m having technical issues with the survey and dashboard. Who should I contact?
Vault Consulting, LLC
How will I obtain the survey link for my campus?
Vault Consulting will be emailing a unique, campus-specific survey link to every individual on your institution’s NACAS membership roster. We encourage you to add email@example.com to your contacts list to ensure these emails do not get sent to your spam folder. And we encourage you to make updates to your membership roster with the NACAS staff.
If you believe you did not receive a survey link, please contact:
Vault Consulting, LLC
Can I start the survey and finish it later?
Your survey data can be saved by selecting the green button at the bottom of any page of the survey. Be sure to do this before closing your browser. Feel free to complete different question fields and return to the survey at a later time, as many times as you need throughout data collection.
How long is the data collection period?
The survey will be live for data collection between late February and May. The deadline to complete the survey is June 12.
Do I have to complete the entire survey?
We believe each campus should be able to complete 100% of the benchmarking survey by working across silos and obtaining data from various auxiliary service departments, even if one is not directly in your immediate portfolio. At a minimum, institutions must finish the Classification, Balance Sheet, and at least one of the specific auxiliary service sections to be included as a complete submission.
If I only oversee some of these departments, how do I complete the survey?
We encourage you to communicate amongst campus colleagues to determine the best way to complete your institution’s survey. There are two options for collaboration:
1) You can share the Excel version of the survey with your campus partners to streamline data collection amongst your colleagues. Once you receive the Excel document back from your colleagues, you may enter the data into the survey. At this time, the Excel document may not be imported into the survey.
2) Your colleagues may complete their sections directly in the survey (without submitting). We recommend that the primary contact be the one to communicate, remind colleagues to save their data but not to submit, and have one person be the final submitter.
What if I accidentally submitted the survey too early?

What would constitute a “successful” data collection effort?
The more data submitted the more valuable our benchmarking program will be! We want to see as many NACAS members participate as possible. We ask you to encourage other member institutions to participate in NACAS benchmarking to make this member benefit as valuable as possible!
What if I oversee services at multiple different campuses within a system?
Please contact NACAS at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will need to make separate accommodations for your survey and dashboard access.
I’m having technical issues with the survey and dashboard. Who should I contact?

What are benchmarking dashboards?
Instead of a static multi-page report of the benchmarking data and analysis, our dashboards will allow users to view their submitted data and compare themselves to key performance metrics and aggregate data. These dashboards will be interactive and allow users to utilize filters and export graphs and reports.
Who can access the benchmarking dashboards and how do I get access?
Dashboards will be available later in the summer and are available only to institutional members that submit a completed survey during the data collection phase. If you submit a completed survey, you will be sent an email when the dashboards are available so you can log-in and access the data.
I didn’t participate in the survey. Will I be able to access the data in another way?
NACAS will release a short, executive summary report of the benchmarking program, which will be free to all NACAS members – both institutional and business partners. Submitting a completed survey is the only way to gain access to the interactive dashboards
Is there a limit to how many people from an institution have access to the benchmarking dashboard?
No, there is no limit. We will be working closely with respondents to organize access to the dashboards.
