NACAS Statement on Indiana Legislation

Charlottesville, VA (April 3, 2015) – NACAS, the largest auxiliary and ancillary services support organization serving higher education, today released the following statement regarding Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act:

“The recent passage of the Indiana religious freedom bill is currently a topic of significant media attention and public debate. NACAS is concerned regarding the possible implications of this legislation relative to our upcoming planned events in Indiana: the 2015 NACAS Central Regional Conference in June, the NACAS Board of Directors’ summer meeting in July, and the 2016 NACAS Annual Conference in October of next year.

NACAS is committed to creating and maintaining a sense of community and inclusion for all members and we call your attention to our Association’s value and policies of diversity that support all persons regardless of gender, race/ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, class, religion, age, and differing abilities. The NACAS Board of Directors will be closely assessing the situation and the potential impact on our members and planned events.

As NACAS members, your comments and thoughts are appreciated. We invite you to send them to info@nacas.org where they will be shared directly with the NACAS Board of Directors.”
