NACAS Member Dr. Emily Messa, CASP Selected for Fulbright Specialist Roster

Longtime NACAS member and volunteer Dr. Emily Messa, CASP has been selected for the Fulbright Scholar Specialist Roster.

The four-year term gives Messa the opportunity to complete a project at a host institution in one of 150 countries. A part of the broader Fulbright Program, the Fulbright Specialist Program pairs highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals with international host institutions to share expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone skills, and learn about other cultures while building capacity abroad at their host institution.

Messa has been a valued member of NACAS and its Board of Directors for many years. She received the CASP designation after completing the Certified Auxiliary Service Professional training in 2019. She is currently the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for the University of Houston System and the UH Senior Associate Vice President for Administration.

Messa’s numerous valuable contributions to NACAS include presenting at C3X and NACAS South CX conferences and in member webinars, increasing volunteer activity among UH members, and receiving multiple awards. Most recently, she received the Volunteer of the Year award at C3X 2021. She is an At-Large Member of the NACAS Board of Directors, Chair of the Committee Chair Council, and was the Co-Chair of NACAS’ CEO Search Committee in 2021. Her favorite thing about being an active member of NACAS is making new connections with colleagues around the globe.

Among her goals while serving as a member of the Fulbright Specialist Roster are increasing her fluency in Spanish and completing a project at a host institution. As always, she wants to apply her new knowledge to her work at UH.
